Stop me if you've heard this one before

Posted to the site Sevenforums.Com two days ago:

This relates to a HP Pavillion DV7 3111ea running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. The original OS was factory installed and the system is about 1-2 years old.

I have re-installed the OS from a DVD but the same problem remains.

I am constantly getting a 9F stop on the machine every time I shut the system down. It goes through the normal log off and shut down screens, the monitor turns off and the hard drive seems to turn off. My problem is the power LED's, wifi LED etc all remain lit along with the system fan running. After a while I get the BSOD.

Increasingly frequent BSOD

Posted to PC Help on March 5, 2012

To anyone with the heart to help,
I have had my computer for about a year and a half now, an HP Pavilion dv4 Notebook laptop, and I must say I am a bit worried about its health. The first BSOD hit after about 5 or 6 months of use, which alarmed me seeing as how I hadn't done much with it that might have caused any serious issues. They've been hitting with increased frequency lately, as I've had three in the past few months.

Newly purchased Pavilion dv6 causes BSOD

From 2/23/12:

"I've recently purchased a new Pavilion dv6 with all the bells and whistles. When I recieved it the hard drive they gave me initially was bunk and they wound up sending me a new one.
Now it continues to give me problems (but it works most of the time). I'm not sure if It's the hard drive or some other malfunction and I should return it again or if I have miraculously managed to put a virus on my brand newcomputer. ( I have run Norton and nothing came up)"

About This Blog

I'm creating this blog as a way of aggregating links to recently purchased HP Pavilion notebooks that have been displaying the BSOD. The information is scattered around the Internet, and it is time for someone to put this all in one place so we can force HP to take action.

I have never been the sort of person who blames manufacturers for laptop failures. A certain degree of failure should be expected with any assembly line. However, it is clear that there is something fundamentally wrong with the most recent batch of HP Pavilion notebooks. HP needs to acknowledge and address this problem.

You might have reached this page by Googling "HP Pavilion BSOD" or "dead Pavilion" or "Why won't my pavilion work." Welcome. Please feel free to add your story in the comments thread!
